A seminar on ‘The Policy Challenges of Globalization in Sri Lanka’, the latest book by Dr. Sarath Rajapatirana, was held yesterday at the Gamani Corea Foundation, bringing together policymakers, economists, researchers, and private sector representatives to discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from global economic integration.
The seminar was jointly organised by the Gamani Corea Foundation and the Sri Lanka Economic Association (SLEA).
Participants included representatives from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, policy institutions, research organisations, and the private sector, who engaged in discussions on strengthening Sri Lanka’s economic policy framework amid growing global interconnectedness.
The forum provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange views on how Sri Lanka can navigate the policy challenges associated with globalisation while enhancing competitiveness, economic resilience, and long-term growth prospects.
Discussions centred on the implications of global economic integration for Sri Lanka and the policy responses required to maximise opportunities while managing emerging risks in an increasingly complex international environment.
Dr. Rajapatirana has written extensively on globalisation, trade liberalisation, economic development, and public policy, with particular emphasis on Sri Lanka’s economic transformation and integration into the global economy. His work has focused on the policy frameworks needed to support sustainable growth and improve the country’s competitiveness in international markets.
