Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M. Marikkar said the recent fuel price increase would lead to higher prices of goods and services, driven by rising transport costs.

He said staple items such as rice are likely to see price increases as higher fuel costs raise distribution expenses, while fish prices would also be affected due to increased operating costs for fishing vessels.

“The people’s expectations have been lost,” he said.
