Four COVID-19 deaths bring total to 457

Four COVID-19 deaths confirmed by health authorities yesterday brought the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 457.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, two of the deaths occurred yesterday, while one occurred on Tuesday and another occurred on 21 February.

A 68-year-old individual from Boralesgamuwa tested positive for COVID-19 at the Kotelawala Defence University Science Faculty Hospital and was admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital. However, she yesterday died of trauma of blood poisoning with COVID-19 and acute kidney disease.

A 60-year-old individual from Wattala yesterday died of COVID pneumonia and an acute heart attack while receiving treatment at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital, where he was transferred from the Welisara Chest Hospital.

On Tuesday, an individual from Kotugoda died of COVID pneumonia while receiving treatment at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital. He was 55-years-old.

Health authorities also state that a 69-year-old individual from Mount Lavinia on 21 February died of acute diabetes and COVID-19 while being admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital.
