Foreign Minister heads to Geneva for UNHRC session

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath yesterday morning departed for Geneva to attend the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), scheduled to open today, the Foreign Ministry said.

Herath is due to make a special address on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government during the session. He is also expected to meet senior diplomats, including UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, to outline the Government’s recent measures and future plans on human rights protection.

The Minister is accompanied by Foreign Ministry UN and Human Rights Division Director General Dayani Mendis.
