Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay
|
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday produced former State Intelligence Service Director Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court under tight security, in connection with ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
The production was carried out on the orders of Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara issued at the previous hearing, after Sallay was named as the third suspect in the case.
Sallay was arrested by the CID on 25 February in Peliyagoda and is currently being detained under a 90-day detention order under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for further interrogation over alleged links to the attacks.
The Court directed the Criminal Investigation Department to submit a progress report on 20 May on investigations into suspects arrested in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The Magistrate further ordered that Sallay remain in detention pending the continuation of investigations.
