Energy Minister holds crucial discussion for LNG power generation

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera announced crucial discussions on LNG infrastructure development and gas supply to the Yughadhanavi and Sobhadabavi power plants.

The announcement was made following a meeting at the Ministry, where key stakeholders explored avenues to expedite the transition to LNG for power generation. The Minister noted that requirements to facilitate the interim solution were discussed with the officials of the Ministry, Indian High Commission, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Lanka Transformers Limited (LTL) and PetroNet LNG.

“In the efforts to expedite the process to generate power from LNG the Government of India has proposed an interim solution from PetroNet LNG,” Wijesekera noted via ‘X’.
