EU, Sri Lanka discuss stronger economic ties as Ambassador departs

Sri Lanka and the European Union (EU) discussed further strengthening bilateral cooperation and economic relations during a meeting between European Union Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Carmen Moreno and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando.

The Finance Ministry said the meeting, held ahead of Ambassador Moreno’s departure from Sri Lanka, also provided an opportunity to reflect on longstanding cooperation between the two sides.

Ambassador Moreno and Dr. Fernando exchanged views on avenues to deepen Sri Lanka-EU economic relations and broader bilateral cooperation. Dr. Fernando also expressed appreciation for Ambassador Moreno’s contribution towards strengthening Sri Lanka-EU relations during her tenure.
