Colombo traffic restrictions announced for ‘Walk for Peace’ under Presidential patronage

A special traffic plan will be implemented across Colombo today (28) in view of the ‘Walk for Peace’ program, according to the Police Media Division.

In a statement, Police said the event will commence at 4 a.m. at Independence Square under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Vehicular movement will be restricted on several roads from 11 a.m., subject to prevailing conditions. The affected routes include Baseline Road from Bandaranaike Roundabout to Borella Junction, Maradana Road, Nandadasa Kodagoda Mawatha, Ward Place, Zoysa Roundabout, Lipton Roundabout, Dharmapala Mawatha, F.R. Senanayake Mawatha, C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha, Horton Roundabout, the Nanda Motors vicinity, Nidahas Mawatha, Premasiri Kemadasa Mawatha, Cambridge Place, the Glass House area, Marcus Fernando Mawatha, Library Junction, Flower Road, Pittala Junction, James Peiris Mawatha, Muttiah Road, Baybrook Road, Staple Street, Gangaramaya Temple Road, and surrounding roads in the vicinity of Gangaramaya Temple.

Police have requested motorists and the public to use alternative routes where possible to minimise congestion and inconvenience during the period of the event.
