Cabinet clears procurement of 535 utility vehicles for development projects

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procurement of 535 utility vehicles to address a shortage that has been identified as a major constraint to the efficient implementation of Government development projects and field operations.

The approval, granted on a proposal submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Finance, Planning and Economic Development Minister authorises the immediate procurement process for 175 tractors, 100 gully bowsers, 100 backhoe loaders and 160 tipper trucks.

The Government said the additional vehicles are intended to strengthen the operational capacity of public institutions and improve the timely execution of development activities across the country.
