The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to resume vehicle parking charges within the city from today, following an easing of traffic congestion.
Parking management and fee collection will recommence from 6.00 a.m., in line with a decision taken by the Finance Standing Committee.
Parking charges had been temporarily suspended from 18 March amid heavy congestion and long queues near fuel stations.
Authorities said traffic conditions have since improved following the introduction of the QR code system and vehicle number-based fuel distribution, prompting the CMC to reinstate the usual parking fee system.
