CMA webinar today on impact of USA Tariffs on Sri Lanka

CMA Sri Lanka will hold a webinar today from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. on the “Impact of USA Tariffs of 44% on Sri Lankan Exports and Economy.”

The webinar will discuss the impact on the Sri Lankan economy short, medium and long term and how to mitigate the risks and explore new ways and means for economic development. 

Speakers will include – Central Bank of Sri Lanka Former Deputy Governor and University of Sri Jayewardenepura Postgraduate Institute of Management Board Member Faculty of Graduate Studies Dr. W.A. Wjewardena, Advocata Institute Chief Executive Officer and Eisenhower Global Fellow 2022 Dananath Fernando, Ernst and Young (EY Sri Lanka)Director and International Monetary Fund Ex-Deloitte Columnist Talal Rafi Economist, Brandix Group Managing Director and Brandix India Apparel City Managing Director Hasitha Premaratne, Dipped Products Managing Director and Sri Lanka Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Rubber Products (SLAMERP)Chairman Pushpika Janadheera, and Verite Research Research Director Subashini Abeysinghe.  This will be followed by a panel discussion.

The USA has increased the import duties from all countries and the imposition of a 44% tariff on Sri Lankan products will pose significant risks to the Sri Lankan economy and exports especially apparel, rubber products, coconut products, fish and seafood, tea, gems, comprising 23% of its total exports to USA.
