CID visits Maithree’s residence to record statement

The Criminal Investigation Department yesterday recorded a statement from Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe, the wife of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

According to reports, CID officials visited the former President’s residence in Colombo, where the statement was recorded.

This is connection to ongoing investigations into allegations that the former President misused public funds to attend Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe’s graduation ceremony in London during an official visit in 2023.
