CID arrests more suspects for setting fire to Ranil’s private residence

The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested three more suspects in connection with the torching of President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence on 9 July.

The Police Media Division announced that the relevant suspects were arrested in Piliyandala and Narahenpita areas.

These arrests have been made for trespassing and setting fire to the President’s private residence in the Kollupitiya police division.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 22 years are residents of Piliyandala Madapata and Narahenpita Colombo 5 areas.

Four youths arrested previously in connection with the incident are currently in remand custody.

The President’s private residence was set on fire by the protesting mobs during protests on 9 July night. The Criminal Investigation Department is conducting further investigations in this regard.
