The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has granted a one-week extension for the submission of assets and liabilities declarations after heavy online traffic disrupted its filing system ahead of the original deadline.
The Commission said declarations can now be submitted until midnight on 7 July, giving individuals additional time to complete the mandatory filing process.
The extension follows technical difficulties experienced on the Commission’s website as a large number of declarants attempted to submit their returns simultaneously before the original deadline of 30 June.
CIABOC Director General Ranga Dissanayake had earlier warned that those who failed to submit their declarations by the deadline would be liable to penalties.
The Commission said the grace period was introduced to ensure all required individuals are able to fulfil their statutory obligations despite the technical disruptions.
