The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed a revision petition in the Colombo High Court seeking to overturn the Colombo Magistrate’s Court’s decision to grant bail to three suspects, including Rakitha Rajapakshe, in a bribery case involving the wife of Nandun Chinthaka Wickramaratne, alias ‘Harak Kata’.

The petition was scheduled to be taken up by the Colombo High Court on Friday.

The three suspects, Rakitha Rajapakshe, Charitha Abeysinghe and Waruna Handige Aruna Chathuranga, had been remanded over allegations of accepting a bribe from Wickramaratne’s wife before the Magistrate’s Court granted them bail.

According to CIABOC, the allegations relate to Rs. 120 million allegedly demanded and obtained from the wife of the suspected organised criminal to facilitate assistance.

Rakitha Rajapakshe is the son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
