The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) yesterday announced estimated retail price ranges for several essential food items for the week from 18 to 24 May 2026.
The CAA said the weekly estimated price ranges are released to inform consumers about prevailing market prices across selected essential commodities.
According to the Authority, wheat flour is priced between Rs. 153 and Rs. 172, while white sugar ranges from Rs. 195 to Rs. 235.
Dhal prices were estimated between Rs. 225 and Rs. 249.
Imported potatoes from India were priced between Rs. 160 and Rs. 228, while Pakistani potatoes ranged from Rs. 160 to Rs. 201.
Big onions imported from India were estimated between Rs. 175 and Rs. 218, while Pakistani big onions ranged from Rs. 112 to Rs. 160. Imported red onions were priced between Rs. 280 and Rs. 320.
The CAA also estimated dried sprats imported from Thailand between Rs. 1,100 and Rs. 1,156, while other varieties ranged from Rs. 1,080 to Rs. 1,309. Dried chillies were priced between Rs. 900 and Rs. 1,087.
White eggs were estimated between Rs. 30 and Rs. 35 per egg, while brown eggs ranged from Rs. 32 to Rs. 37.
Local canned fish varieties were estimated between Rs. 380 and Rs. 560, depending on the product category and brand.
The Authority estimated local white raw rice between Rs. 180 and Rs. 220, local red raw rice between Rs. 168 and Rs. 220, and local white Nadu rice between Rs. 190 and Rs. 230.
Broiler chicken prices were estimated between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,250 per kilo, while a 400g packet of full cream milk powder ranged between Rs. 990 and Rs. 1,155.
