The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has uncovered a stock of urea fertiliser allegedly altered with falsified pricing information during a raid in Matara.

The operation was carried out by officials from the CAA’s Matara District Office following a complaint, leading to the discovery of 179 bags of 50kg urea fertiliser at the location.

According to the CAA, the fertiliser stocks had been tampered with, including manipulated price labels and altered product details, in preparation for sale.

The suspects along with the seized stock are due to be produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court for further legal action.
