Bribery Commission freezes Rakitha Rajapakshe’s bank accounts

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has suspended several bank accounts belonging to Rakitha Rajapakshe, son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, as part of an ongoing investigation.

The action was taken under legal provisions relating to the proceeds of crime. A team of CIABOC officers visited Rajapakshe’s residence in Nawala on Wednesday to serve notice of the suspension, an official said. The Commission said Rajapakshe was not at home when the officers arrived. Officers would visit the residence again to serve the notice, the official said.
