Governor-General of Australia Samantha Joy Mostyn last Thursday highlighted Australia’s readiness to provide the necessary assistance to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy.
She made these remarks during her bilateral discussion with President Anura Kumara Disanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.
The meeting revolved around strengthening the over 75-year long friendship between Australia and Sri Lanka and on opportunities to expand existing areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Australian Governor-General Mostyn emphasised that Australia is ready to provide continuous support for a successful journey for Sri Lanka under the leadership of President Disanayake.
The President noted that this visit will further strengthen the friendship between Australia and Sri Lanka. He recalled the direct support provided by the Australian Government during the Tsunami disaster and the recent economic crisis, as well as the assistance channelled through international institutions. The President also appreciated Australia’s ongoing support in Sri Lanka’s economic, educational, defence, tourism, and maritime sectors.
The President emphasised that a very favourable environment has been created in Sri Lanka for Australian investors.
