The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved awarding a contract worth Rs. 791.68 million (tax-free) to M/s Asset Engineering Ltd., for the upgrading of a section of the Blackpool - Ambewela - Pattipola - Horton Plains (B 512) road, which was damaged by Cyclone Ditwah when it struck Sri Lanka in late November 2025.
The contract covers the stretch of road from km 5+200 to km 12+000.
Addressing the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said, bids were invited under the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedure, with four bids received for the project.
“Following evaluation of the bids and based on the recommendations of the High Level Procurement Committee, the Cabinet approved awarding the contract to Asset Engineering Ltd., as the lowest responsive bidder,” he added.
The proposal to this effect was submitted by the Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake.
