The Asia Pacific Media Forum opened on Saturday (5 September) in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, as the country hosts a series of events under the 2026 APEC "China Year."

The forum was attended by over 400 delegates representing over 40 countries and regions, along with UN agencies and other international organisations.

On the sidelines of the forum, 16 media organisations from China and abroad launched a preparatory committee for the Asia Pacific Media Partnership Program.

Ahead of the event, participating guests visited cities in Guangdong, including Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhongshan.

During the 2026 APEC "China Year," approximately 300 events are scheduled to take place across multiple cities in China. Notably, the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting will be held in Shenzhen in November. China is hosting the Forum for the third time, following Shanghai in 2001 and Beijing in 2014.
