Army Commander calls on IGP to conduct disciplinary action against Police misbehaviour with motorcycle crew

Army Commander Shavendra Silva has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne to conduct disciplinary action against the two Police officers near the Parliament roadblock who misbehaved with the Army motorcycle crew that was on duty.

“When four motorcycles belonging to the Sri Lanka Army motorcycle team approached the roadblock near the Parliament complex, two Police officers on duty at the premises misbehaved with the members of the motorcycle crew. A request has been made to the IGP to conduct an immediate investigation and take disciplinary action,” Sri Lanka Army Spokesman Brig. Nilantha Premaratne said, issuing a statement yesterday.

It said the IGP who responded to the incident has assured the Army Commander that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

The Defence Secretary has also instructed the IGP and the Public Security Ministry Secretary to take immediate action regarding the incident.
