Yoshitha Rajapaksa

The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed a revision petition filed by Yoshitha Rajapaksa challenging the validity of a conspiracy charge brought against him in an ongoing money laundering case before the Colombo High Court.

Rajapaksa had sought a ruling that the conspiracy charge filed by the Attorney General under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act was not legally maintainable.

However, a Bench comprising Justices Amal Ranaraja and Dr. Sumudu Premachandra rejected the petition, clearing the way for the conspiracy charge to proceed before the Colombo High Court.

The case stems from a money laundering indictment filed by the Attorney General against Rajapaksa. Following the Appeal Court’s ruling, proceedings in the Colombo High Court are expected to continue.
