AG indicts Ranawaka and two others over 2016 accident

The Attorney General (AG) yesterday filed an indictment in the Colombo High Court against three persons, including former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and former Welikada Police OIC ASP Sudath Asmadala for conspiring and fabricating false evidence, giving false information to screen an offender, and other charges in connection with an accident involving Ranawaka’s vehicle in 2016. Dilum Tusitha Kumara, who was the driver for Ranawaka, was also indicted for falsifying information by attempting to conceal that the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident was Ranawaka. In all, the three men have been indicted on 16 counts.

The accident caused grievous injuries to a young man, Sandeepa Sampath of Godagama.
