The Attorney General has cleared the draft Bill to extend the retirement age of judges by two years, allowing the proposed legislation to proceed to the next stage of the legislative process.
The Attorney General’s Department said it had completed its legal review of the draft Bill and formally conveyed its approval to the Justice Ministry.
The Ministry is now expected to finalise the draft legislation before it is published in the Government Gazette.
The move follows Cabinet approval for a proposal submitted by the Justice Ministry to increase the retirement age of judges by two years, paving the way for the constitutional amendment to be presented to Parliament.
