ACJU urges Govt. to investigate claims by Gnanasara Thero

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), in a statement yesterday, urged the Government to investigate claims by Ven. Gnanasara Thero of an imminent terror attack.

“It is greatly alarming to note the recent statements made by Ven. Gnanasara Thero about a possible terror attack similar to that of the Easter Attacks. These statements have been made during a live TV Discussion on the 13 September,” ACJU said. 

“During this program, the host queried the Ven. Gnanasara Thero if he possessed any knowledge about a possible terror attack. He replied affirmatively. This matter has been reported in the several media as well,” the statement added. ACJU said these alarming revelations regarding a possible attack, which are publicly claimed, would cause immense fear and anxiety among the entire population of this country. 

“We all are well aware of the intense damage caused by the inhuman Easter Attacks, in which hundreds of innocent lives were lost and consequences faced by the entire country,” ACJU said. 

It urged the authorities to investigate these claims immediately and to take appropriate measures in this regard. 

“We also urge the authorities to clarify the reality of these claims to the public. Furthermore, we wish to state that many baseless allegations have been made by the said Thero, to which we shall respond shortly,” the ACJU statement added.
