745 persons test positive for COVID-19

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 detections rose to 555,204 with 745 persons testing positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

The patients detected yesterday were from the New Year cluster.

On Thursday, 737 patients were detected from the New Year cluster. The cluster has a patient count of 450,353.

The Peliyagoda cluster has 82,785 cases, the Prisons cluster has 9,053 cases, and the Divulapitiya cluster has 3,059 cases. Sri Lanka’s imported cases include 6,967 Sri Lankans and 328 foreigners.

The district distribution of COVID-19 patients shows 114,233 detections from Colombo, 97,284 detections from Gampaha, 52,570 detections from Kalutara, 34,650 detections from Galle, and 26,882 detections from Kurunegala.

During the third wave of the pandemic, 81,936 persons from Colombo, 78,750 persons from Gampaha, and 45,512 persons from Kalutara tested positive for COVID-19.

At present, 15,207 persons are under medical or home-based care and 1,978 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 351 persons were released from care yesterday, raising the country’s COVID-19 recoveries to 525,911.
