735 persons test positive for COVID-19

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 detections rose to 557,361 with 735 persons testing positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

The COVID-19 patients detected yesterday were from the New Year cluster.

On Sunday, 697 persons from the New Year cluster tested positive for COVID-19 and the New Year cluster has expanded to 452,520 cases.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 82,785 patients have been detected from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,053 patients have been detected from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 patients have been detected from the Divulapitiya cluster.

A total of 6,967 Sri Lankan overseas arrivals and 328 foreigners make up the country’s imported cases.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, the country’s COVID-19 detections include 114,451 persons from Colombo, 97,494 persons from Gampaha, 52,685 persons from Kalutara, 34,715 persons from Galle, and 27,019 persons from Kurunegala.

During the third wave of the pandemic, 82,154 persons from Colombo, 78,960 persons from Gampaha, and 45,627 persons from Kalutara tested positive for COVID-19.

At present, 16,093 persons are under medical and home-based care and 2,083 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation. Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 recoveries rose to 527,110 with 376 persons leaving care yesterday.
