61 COVID-19 patients detected

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 case count exceeded 663,000 following the detection of 61 COVID-19 patients yesterday.

The previous day, 33 COVID-19 patients were detected. According to the Health Promotion Bureau, 1,685 PCR tests and 1,489 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 detections total 663,006, out of which 75,373 patients were detected this year. The country’s local cases also include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.

In terms of imported cases, 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners have tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 139,098 patients from Colombo, 114,367 patients from Gampaha, 58,226 patients from Kalutara, 45,592 patients from Galle, and 31,485 patients from Kurunegala have been detected.

During the third wave of the pandemic, 106,801 persons from Colombo, 95,833 persons from Gampaha, and 51,168 persons from Kalutara tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently 3,949 persons under medical or home-based care. In addition to this, 290 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.

Three persons were discharged from COVID-19 treatment yesterday, raising the country’s COVID-19 recoveries to 642,560.
