60 persons test positive for COVID-19

Health officials stated that 60 persons tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, raising the COVID-19 case count to 662,717.

The previous day, 65 persons tested positive for COVID-19. The Health Promotion Bureau states that 1,137 PCR tests and 692 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Monday.

Since first January, 75,085 COVID-19 patients have been detected. The country’s local cases also include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.

In addition to this, 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 138,996 persons from Colombo, 114,336 persons from Gampaha, 58,209 persons from Kalutara, 45,569 persons from Galle, and 31,479 persons from Kurunegala have tested positive for COVID-19.

During the third wave of the pandemic, 106,699 patients from Colombo, 95,802 patients from Gampaha, and 51,151 patients from Kalutara have been detected.

At present, 3,709 persons are under medical or home-based care, and 435 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 642,516 persons have recovered from COVID-19 to date. This includes eight persons released from care yesterday.
