360,693 persons receive COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday

A total of 360,693 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday and Sri Lanka has thus far administered the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 11,534,750 persons and the second dose to 3,775,976 persons.

On Wednesday, 81,000 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 228,790 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 9,140,644 persons and the second dose to 2,884,051 persons.

The first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 39,361 persons on Wednesday and the second dose was administered to 247 persons. The Epidemiology Unit states that the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 1,222,043 persons and the second dose to 868,058 persons.

85 persons received the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and 8,325 persons received the second dose of the vaccine on Wednesday. In total, the first dose has been administered to 251,846 persons and the second dose to 9,351 persons.

The first dose of Moderna was administered to 2,885 persons on Wednesday and the first dose has been thus far administered to 761,136 persons.

The Epidemiology Unit states that the Sputnik V first dose has been administered to 159,081 persons and the second dose to 14,516 persons.

While the vaccination drive is being carried out at centres across the country, mobile vaccination programs have been launched by both the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) and the Sri Lanka Army.

CMC Medical Officer of Health in Epidemiology and Statistics Dr. Dinu Guruge yesterday tweeted: “CMC has organised a mobile vaccination program for citizens who are immobile/bedridden and cannot go to a vaccination centre.”

Residents of Colombo 1 to Colombo 15 who require the service can register for it by sending their name, NIC, address, mobile number, and reason for the request to [email protected].

Meanwhile, the mobile vaccination fleet by the Sri Lanka Army began operations in the Western Province yesterday. Ten mobile vaccination vehicles and an ambulance on standby are being used to carry out the mobile service and persons can register for it by calling the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) on 1906 or 0112860002
