35 persons test positive for COVID-19

Thirty-five COVID-19 patients were detected yesterday, raising the country’s total COVID-19 detections to 663,408.

The previous day, 11 persons tested positive for COVID-19. The Health Promotion Bureau states that 1,023 PCR tests and 509 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Sunday.

The country’s COVID-19 detections include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.

In addition to this, 75,790 COVID-19 patients were detected this year.

The country’s imported cases include 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 139,260 patients from Colombo, 114,420 patients from Gampaha, 58,244 patients from Kalutara, 45,640 patients from Galle, and 31,498 patients from Kurunegala have been detected.

During the third wave of the pandemic, 106,963 persons from Colombo, 95,886 persons from Gampaha, and 51,186 persons from Kalutara tested positive for COVID-19.

At present, 774 persons are receiving medical or home-based care. Meanwhile, three persons were discharged from COVID-19 care yesterday, raising the country’s COVID-19 recoveries to 646,129.
