33 persons test positive for COVID-19

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 case count rose to 662,945 following the detection of 33 COVID-19 patients yesterday.

The previous day, 48 persons tested positive for COVID-19. The Health Promotion Bureau states that 1,001 PCR tests and 417 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Monday.

A total of 75,340 COVID-19 patients have been detected since 1 January. In addition to this, 483,090 patients from the New Year cluster, 82,785 patients from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 patients from the Prisons cluster, and 3,059 patients from the Divulapitiya cluster have been detected.

Sri Lanka’s imported cases include 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 139,086 persons from Colombo, 114,362 persons from Gampaha, 58,221 persons from Kalutara, 45,592 persons from Galle, and 31,483 persons from Kurunegala have tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 detections during the third wave of the pandemic include 106,789 patients from Colombo, 95,828 patients from Gampaha, and 51,163 patients from Kalutara.

At present, 3,891 persons are under medical and home-based care, and 344 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.

The Epidemiology Unit states that one person was released from care yesterday. Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 recoveries total 642,557.
