250,356 COVID-19 vaccines administered on Thursday

COVID-19 vaccines were administered to 250,356 persons on Thursday and a total of 11,406,358 persons have received both doses of a vaccine in the country.

The first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 14,183,520 persons. According to the Epidemiology Unit, the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 44.3% of the 20-29 age group and 12.6% have received both doses of a vaccine.

Second dose coverage in the over 30 age group is 97.3%.

According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), vaccination of children in the 12-15 age groups with comorbidities and cognitive impairs commenced yesterday at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children as well as the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

The PMD statement added that an interest and willingness to get vaccinated was once again growing in the country, especially among the 20-29 age group.

Persons vaccinated on Thursday include 148,803 persons who received the first dose of Sinopharm and 31,547 persons who received the second dose of Sinopharm. The first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 11,331,168 persons in total, of which 9,133,818 persons have received the second dose as well.

The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,451,112 persons and the second dose of the vaccine has been administered to 1,151,476 persons. On Thursday, 1,213 persons received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 35,198 persons received the second dose of the vaccine.

The second dose of Sputnik V was administered to 32,688 persons on Thursday, raising the total number of persons to receive the Sputnik V second dose to 117,595. The first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 159,089 persons.

The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 582 persons on Thursday and 55 persons received the second dose of Pfizer on Thursday. A total of 455,325 persons have received the first dose of Pfizer and 244,137 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 226 persons received the first dose of Moderna on Thursday and 44 persons received the second dose of Moderna. The first dose has been administered to a total of 786,826 persons, of which 759,332 persons have received the second dose as well.
