20th International Society for Twin Studies Conference kicks off in Colombo

The 20th International Society for Twin Studies (ISTS) Conference and the 8th World Congress on Twin Pregnancy kicked off in Colombo yesterday at the Cinnamon Grand.

The two-day event is a global landmark, bringing together over 250 delegates from over 30 countries, representing top universities and research institutions across the UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and North America.

This conference, which focuses on scientific research, is attended by researchers including doctors and professors in genetics, obstetrics, mental health and bioethics, and the participation of world-renowned experts in medicine, psychiatry, genetics and community relations research will further enhance the value of this conference. This conference is also the largest twin conference in the South Asian region.

The inaugural ceremony of this conference, hosted by the Institute for Health and Social Care Research and Development (IRD) and its affiliated Twin Archive (SLTR) and organised for the first time in Sri Lanka, saw British High Commissioner Andrew Patrick as the Chief Guest, and the Minister of Science and Technology Chrishantha Abeysena, as well as world-renowned doctors, professors, and researchers representing about 35 countries of the world.
