A coordinated operation by Sri Lanka Army intelligence units and the Department of Immigration and Emigration has led to the arrest of 134 foreign nationals linked to an organised online scam network operating in Anuradhapura and Mihintale.
Authorities said the raid was launched following intelligence inputs, with simultaneous inspections carried out at five lodging facilities where the suspects had been residing. The group comprised 126 Chinese nationals, along with four individuals from Myanmar and four from Taiwan, all suspected of involvement in online fraud activities conducted from the locations.
Officials also recovered a significant quantity of laptops, mobile phones and other electronic equipment believed to have been used in the operation.
Those arrested, together with the seized items, have been handed over to the Department of Immigration and Emigration for further investigation. Authorities said inquiries are continuing.
