112 COVID-19 patients detected

Daily detections came up to 112 yesterday, raising the country’s total COVID-19 case count to 662,103.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 106 persons tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day. On Sunday, 2,204 PCR tests and 1,346 rapid antigen tests were conducted.

Since 1 January, 74,419 persons have tested positive for COVID-19. The country’s COVID-19 detections also include 483,090 persons from the New Year cluster, 82,785 persons from the Peliyagoda cluster, 9,154 persons from the Prisons cluster and 3,059 persons from the Divulapitiya cluster.

In terms of imported cases, 7,242 Sri Lankan returnees from overseas and 328 foreigners have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 138,817 persons from Colombo, 114,246 persons from Gampaha, 58,161 persons from Kalutara, 45,449 persons from Galle, and 31,462 persons from Kurunegala are included in the country’s total case count.

COVID-19 detections during the third wave of the pandemic include 106,520 persons from Colombo, 95,712 persons from Gampaha, and 51,103 persons from Kalutara.

At present, 8,321 persons are under medical or home-based care and 549 persons suspected of having COVID-19 are under observation.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 637,297 persons have recovered from COVID-19 to date. This includes five persons released from care yesterday.
