In honour of National Energy Day 2025, KDK Sri Lanka and Elite Radio & Engineering Company (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka’s trusted leader in indoor air quality solutions, stands with the people of Sri Lanka in shaping a smarter, more energy conscious future.

Sri Lanka’s journey with electricity began in the late 19th century, when the island saw its first electric light when the SS Helios sailed into Colombo. The island saw its first electric light bulb illuminate the billiard room at the Bristol Hotel in Colombo in 1890. Just five years later, the island saw the launch of its first commercial electricity supply, a milestone that ignited a nationwide transformation in how people lived, worked, and embraced modern innovation.

KDK’s own journey began in 1909, pioneering the future of air movement with the introduction of Japan’s first mass-produced electric fan, “The Typhoon”. For over 115 years, KDK has remained at the forefront of innovation, evolving into a symbol of intelligent, energy e cient cooling.

Today, energy e ciency is no longer a choice, but a responsibility. As energy grows ever more precious, so does our duty to use it wisely. At KDK, we are proud to lead this change in Sri Lanka, committed to developing solutions that are high-performance and energy friendly.

We engineer our products to suit tropical climates, focusing on durability, e ciency, and long-term energy savings. Our fans are more than appliances. They are part of a vision for tomorrow.

From that first spark of electric light to today’s advanced technologies, the journey of progress continues. The future of smart cooling is already here. And KDK is proud to lead the way with premium indoor air solutions.
