The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (CIPM Sri Lanka) has achieved another historic milestone by securing two prestigious national titles at the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) 2026. CIPM was named Winner – Educational Services Sector and Winner – Medium Category at the awards ceremony held on 29 July 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo.
Organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, the NBEA is widely regarded as one of the country’s foremost platforms for recognizing organizational excellence. The awards honour institutions that demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, resilience, corporate governance, sustainability, technological advancement, and adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.
The double victory reinforces CIPM’s standing as Sri Lanka’s apex professional body for Human Resource Management and recognizes the Institute’s enduring contribution to the advancement of people management, professional education, and institutional excellence.
The achievement carries particular significance as CIPM celebrates 67 years of creating national value. Throughout its distinguished history, the Institute has played a pivotal role in professionalizing HR management in Sri Lanka, building the capabilities of generations of practitioners and strengthening the people-management practices of organizations across the public and private sectors.
At the heart of this contribution is CIPM’s commitment to providing high-quality HR education that responds to the evolving needs of individuals, industries, and the national economy. Its portfolio of professional qualifications, executive education, specialized learning programmes, research initiatives, and continuous professional development opportunities supports learners at different stages of their careers—from aspiring professionals to senior corporate leaders.
CIPM continues to strengthen the relevance and international standing of its academic and professional offerings through partnerships and accreditations with respected local and international institutions. These collaborations provide learners with access to globally benchmarked knowledge, contemporary professional practices, and qualifications carrying recognition beyond Sri Lanka. The Institute’s ISO certifications further reflect its commitment to quality assurance, efficient systems, continuous improvement, and the consistent delivery of value to its stakeholders.
Winning the Educational Services Sector recognizes CIPM’s sustained efforts to transform professional learning through academic excellence, innovative delivery methods, research, digital enablement, industry engagement, and the continuous development of human capital.
The Medium Category award represents broader recognition of CIPM’s overall organizational excellence, including visionary leadership, strategic governance, operational effectiveness, financial sustainability, stakeholder engagement, environmental responsibility, and an institution-wide culture of continuous improvement.
The distinction of the NBEA lies in its rigorous three-stage evaluation process. Organizations undergo a comprehensive review by technical experts, followed by detailed presentations and interviews and a final independent assessment by an eminent panel of judges. Performance is evaluated through the National Business Excellence Model across seven dimensions: Leadership and Strategy; Corporate Governance; Capacity Building; Performance Management; Local and Global Market Reach; Environmental, Social and Governance; and Financial Results.
Beyond education and professional development, CIPM recognizes its responsibility to contribute to Sri Lanka’s broader economic and social progress. The Institute continues to collaborate with government institutions and national stakeholders on initiatives supporting public-sector capability, workforce productivity, policy dialogue, employability, institutional transformation, and economic growth. Through these partnerships, CIPM advances a national mandate to position human capital as a central driver of Sri Lanka’s sustainable development and competitiveness.
These awards reflect the collective commitment of the CIPM Council, Chief Executive Officer, management, academic faculty, staff, members, students, corporate partners, and stakeholders. Their shared pursuit of excellence continues to strengthen CIPM’s national and international reputation while enabling the Institute to fulfil its defining purpose: developing people, transforming organizations, and creating enduring value for Sri Lanka.
