01The Mercedes-Benz Pageant, which opens to lovers and enthusiasts of Mercedes-Benz cars throughout Sri Lanka once a year, is not just a pageant. It is a showcase of benchmarks and greatness, of the ultimate driving experience of the world’s number one luxury car brand.

The Mercedes-Benz Pageant will be opened to the public at the BMICH on 30 April from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It is also a gathering where friends, well-wishers, and relatives get together to celebrate the three-pointed star that has driven the world on for the past century and the fellowship it has entailed. This year’s event is the 27th Mercedes-Benz Pageant and will take place at BMICH. Driving-in, in your Mercedes-Benz is the only entry ticket to this exclusive event.

The Pageant is organised by the Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka and is sponsored by the only authorised distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka, DIMO. The Club is a veritable fellowship, comprising passionate fans and owners of the three-pointed star. It is a testament to the popularity of the Club that no other automobile brand in the country has equalled or ever will equal its annual Pageant. For that reason, it remains more than just your typical, extravagant parade.

As always, it will be more than a drive-through exhibition, with discerning lovers of Mercedes-Benz being encouraged to take part, be enthralled and have some fun. This year’s pageant, as with previous years, is expected to draw in more than 1,500 people to more than 700 vehicles. Unlike previous Pageants, however, this Pageant is set to be enriched by a very special product line which celebrates half a century this year.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG will be given special focus at this year’s Pageant. With a history that goes back to 1967, AMG has since its inception come to symbolise the ultimate blend of power, performance and aesthetics. With top-notch, formidable vehicle technology derived from F1 and with a range of motor car engines (including the M271 which has become a feature of F3), it also has become synonymous with technology and excitement.

Added to this is the AMG’s “One Man, One Engine” philosophy. As opposed to the mechanised large-series production chains typical of car lines elsewhere, Mercedes-AMG engines are made through a single technician, from installation to assembly to final check-up. As much time as this takes, it ensures that the entire production process (supervised by the AMG Trace System) is reducible to one person, whose commitment to quality, excellence and intelligence is seamlessly brought out in the final product.

While AMG will be the highlight of the Pageant, however, it will not be limited in its scope. There are exciting activities awaiting kids, teenagers, ladies and gents. There are exciting gift offers and games as well. Above everything else, however, there will be as exciting opportunities for Mercedes-Benz fans and lovers to get to know each other, to think of friendships that have been nurtured, sustained and added to by the three-pointed star at the centre of the world of automobiles.

All discerning Mercedes-Benz owners and fans have been requested to keep Sunday the 30 April free to come, enjoy, be glad, shake hands and go back happier.
