With the ever-popular Colombo Night Races 2013 coming up around the corner, JAT Holdings is once again proud to announce the addition of Yannick Lawrence to their young team of drivers. Yannick, 24, currently a student at university in Australia, has been passionate about cars from a young age. His desire to get behind the wheel was inspired as he enjoyed watching his father race at Katukurunda. Growing up in Sri Lanka in a family with an immense love for cars was the driving force in getting this young driver into the motor racing scene at the age of eight when he first decided to give pro-karting a go. He took part in the All Island Karting Championship in 2001, in which he came third. As time went on, he kept karting in Sri Lanka taking part in many different events. His consistent performance thereafter earned him the opportunity to drive a McLarens LGB in 2010. Following this, he was given a chance in a race for the novices at the Pannala Speed Round 3 in November 2010. He displayed exceptional skills and qualified for the pole position. Thereafter he moved to Australia for further studies and will return during the holidays. He also displayed his skills in navigating his father through the tough terrain at the Kantale Speed Rally in 2011. Yannick has also taken part in the McLarens Suzuki Alto event which started in 2012. Again, in his first race, he had the fastest timing on qualifying day, but however fell into second place on the last lap of the race due to a technical fault. Additionally, in July 2012, he took part again in the Alto event which he secured pole position in both races on that day. He managed to get a one; two finish ending the day. To top it off, he has gained some experience in Australia by undergoing training at a V8 supercar school. He hopes to bring all this together in order to bring Team JAT to the limelight at the Colombo Night Races 2013 as he takes part in a Formula Mclarens backed by JAT Holdings.
