GAC strengthens presence in Sri Lanka

 Opens new 3S facility and launches all-new EMKOO SUV

 

GAC, in partnership with its official Sri Lankan distributor Automobile Technologies Ltd.,  recently marked a significant milestone in its Sri Lankan expansion with the official opening of a brand-new 3S automotive facility at Union Place, Colombo. 

The occasion also served as the stage for the highly anticipated Sri Lankan launch of the futuristic GAC EMKOO SUV.

The new state-of-the-art facility brings Sales, Service, and Genuine Spare Parts together under one roof, emphasising GAC’s deep commitment to providing Sri Lankan customers with a comprehensive and premium automotive ownership experience.

 This strategic expansion strengthens the partnership between GAC and Automobile Technologies Ltd., as well, reinforcing their shared vision of introducing innovative, modern, and high-quality mobility solutions to the local market.

Headlining the event was the official introduction of the GAC EMKOO to Sri Lankan customers. Touted as the “Future Styled SUV,” the EMKOO is a bold statement in automotive design and technology.

Powered by a responsive 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that delivers 177 PS and 270 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed wet clutch dual-clutch transmission, this advanced powertrain enables the EMKOO to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 190 km/h, while maintaining an impressive fuel efficiency rating.

Beyond its dynamic performance, the EMKOO offers a spacious and technologically advanced interior. The cabin features a futuristic dual-screen cockpit, including a 10.25-inch LCD digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. With a class-leading trunk capacity of 638 litres, expandable to 1,586 litres with the rear seats folded, the EMKOO is designed for both urban commuting and long journeys.

The event was graced by GAC South Asia Region General Manager Daniel Zhou as the Chief Guest, alongside other senior representatives from GAC Asia Pacific and the leadership of Automobile Technologies  Ltd. 

Distinguished attendees included GAC Country Manager Raymon Wang, Director – Asia Region Faisal Sharif, Automobile Technologies Directors Chandri Jayathilake and Suren Karunakaran.
