David Pieris Automobiles Ltd., (DPA), the four-wheeler sales arm of the David Pieris Group of Companies, announced a landmark partnership with GWM, a global automotive leader, to introduce a new era of hybrid and new energy vehicles (NEVs) to Sri Lanka.

The official press conference about the launch was held yesterday with senior members of the David Pieris Group including Group Chairman and Managing Director Rohana Dissanayake, Mahesh Gunathilake, David Pieris Automobiles Sales and Marketing Head Yasantha Abeykoone.

Representatives from GWM joined the event virtually, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership that aims to reshape the nation’s mobility landscape through innovation, reliability, and sustainability.

The partnership brings together the global engineering excellence of GWM, now operating in over 100 countries worldwide, with DPA’s four-decade legacy of trust and accessibility. Through this collaboration, Sri Lankan customers will gain access to a full line-up of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles that combine cutting-edge technology with everyday practicality.

Backed by a 5-star ANCAP safety rating in Australia for the Haval H6 range and driven in one of the world’s toughest markets, GWM brings performance and peace of mind to Sri Lankan roads. Launched under GWM’s global brand philosophy, “Go With More,” the initiative represents a bold invitation to a smarter, more connected and more confident future for Sri Lankan drivers, one where they no longer have to choose between performance and efficiency.

Introducing the GWM Hybrid Range

The initial line-up introduced under the DPA–GWM partnership includes:

  • Haval H6 – Rs. 17.995 million (HEV) / Rs. 20.995 million (PHEV)

A refined, intelligent SUV that blends urban comfort with hybrid versatility. The H6 HEV delivers a powerful, yet efficient drive, enhanced by a Panoramic Sunroof and a sleek 12.3-inch Ultra-Smart Touchscreen. The PHEV variant offers a significant pure electric range, giving you true Hybrid Freedom and ultra-low consumption for daily commuting.

  • Haval GT PHEV – Rs. 24.995 million

A performance-driven plug-in hybrid SUV with a coupe-inspired silhouette, bold styling, and exhilarating hybrid power. The H6 GT PHEV delivers a sports car-rivalling 0–100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and a colossal 762 Nm of torque. Its athletic aesthetic is matched by a driver-focused cabin featuring Alcantara-style Sport Seats and an aggressive, distinct exterior design.

  • Tank 300 HEV – Rs. 35.995 million

A rugged off-roader built for those who seek freedom beyond the city. The Tank 300 HEV redefines modern exploration with a full 4x4 off-road chassis, front and rear differential locks, and crawl control capability. Its military-grade strength is balanced by a luxurious interior featuring a dual 12.3-inch integrated screen setup and premium faux Nappa leather accents.

  • Tank 500 HEV – Rs. 43.5 million

The flagship of GWM’s line-up, combining commanding design, seven-seat comfort, and hybrid luxury. The majestic Tank 500 HEV features an opulent cabin with Nappa leather-accented seats (often with cooling/massage functions) and a colossal 14.6-inch central multimedia display. Built on a body-on-frame chassis, it offers unmatched presence and genuine off-road capability, making every arrival an occasion.

Additionally, DPA will introduce the fully-electric ORA, further expanding options for Sri Lankan consumers seeking both sustainable and high-performance mobility solutions.

Redefining the future of mobility for Sri Lanka

This partnership represents more than a product introduction, it’s a strategic step forward for Sri Lanka’s automotive future.

By combining GWM’s advanced hybrid and electric technologies with DPA’s trusted nationwide service network, Sri Lankans now have access to more freedom, more efficiency, more value, and more trust.
