In an effort to honour the longstanding loyalty and performance of its key dealers across the island, Browns’ Battery and Tyre Strategic Business Unit (SBU) recently hosted a prestigious dealer appreciation ceremony at the Galle Face Hotel. As part of an innovative dealer discount recognition program that ran from December 2024 to March 2025, the Battery and Tyre SBU awarded over Rs. 200 million in incentive cheques, the highest-ever payout by an automotive battery company in Sri Lanka, in keeping with the Browns Group’s 150 Anniversary celebrations and 101 years of Exide’s presence in the nation.

As part of an overall campaign that rewarded over 290 dealers islandwide, representing Browns’ most successful sellers of Exide, Lucas and Dagenite battery brands, the convention honoured 53 of the top performers who have been instrumental in championing some of the most trusted names in the local automotive market. Dealer reward initiatives such as these reflect Browns’ continued efforts to honour and foster its valued partner network, not only reinforcing commitment to shared growth, but also by recognising these partnerships as the lifeblood of its operations.

The event carried even deeper resonance as it coincided with the Browns Group’s 150th year of operations, a monumental milestone that speaks to the company’s enduring legacy, built on innovation, trust, and a pioneering spirit. From introducing Sri Lanka’s first automobile, the Darracq Motorcar, in 1909, to being the sole agent for Goodyear’s All-Weather Tread Tyres, and developing service infrastructure across Colombo, Hatton, Kandy, and Nawalapitiya, Browns has consistently powered progress and mobility in Sri Lanka.

Adding to this historic moment, Exide marks 101 years in the Sri Lankan market since its introduction in 1924, with top delegates from Exide Industries visiting the country specially to mark the Group’s 150-year anniversary celebration event in May. Today, Exide stands as a symbol of power, endurance, and reliability, evolving beyond an industrial product into a household name that has powered generations and shaped lifestyles.
