Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited announced its partnership with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka (WNPS) to support the Preserving Land and Nature (PLANT) initiative, a science-based conservation program dedicated to building forest corridors, restoring ecosystems, promoting biodiversity, and enhancing climate resilience.
Through this partnership, for every Motor and Travel Insurance policy sold from 30th October 2025 onwards, Allianz Lanka will contribute funds towards reforestation, habitat restoration, awareness, and biodiversity conservation projects across Sri Lanka. The initiative reflects Allianz Group’s global ESG strategy focused on achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, reducing internal emissions by 70% by 2025, and investing in climate-resilient projects.
PLANT, a flagship project of WNPS, the oldest conservation organization in Sri Lanka focuses on forest corridor creation, habitat restoration, and protection of key biodiversity hotspots. The initiative currently operates in 33 locations, home to over 1,250 species including 125 endangered ones, and has begun creating over 25 km of forest corridors.
Prashant Grover, CEO and Country Manager of Allianz Lanka, said:
“At Allianz, we believe that protecting what matters most goes far beyond insurance, it’s about safeguarding our planet and the future we all share. Every step we take is driven by our commitment to create lasting value for our customers, our communities, and the world around us. Through our partnership with WNPS and the PLANT initiative, we are taking meaningful action to restore Sri Lanka’s natural ecosystems and preserve its biodiversity for generations to come. We are proud to lead this cause because we have only 1 Earth and protecting it is another way of protecting those who matter most to us.”
Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne, Chairperson of the PLANT initiative at WNPS, added that this partnership highlights how responsible corporates can make customers stakeholders in conservation.
Through this initiative, Allianz Lanka reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development, because we have only one Earth.
