Sri Lanka’s leading private sector bank HNB PLC, was recognised among the Top 10 Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka 2022 for the fifth consecutive year.

Organised by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (AICPA and CIMA), the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL), the ranking serves as a platform for recognising Sri Lankan companies that create lasting value for stakeholders and inspire corporate excellence.

The event was graced by Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake as the Chief Guest while the keynote speech was delivered by Deputy Head of Mission for Japan in Sri Lanka Katsuki Kotaro.

“In the face of formidable local and global economic challenges, HNB’s reaffirmation as one of Sri Lanka’s Most Admired Companies speaks volumes of our team’s values and unwavering dedication, as well as the strong and resilient foundation of operational excellence and good governance which HNB has continuously consolidated.

“Combined with HNB’s relentless refinement of our product and service portfolio, we are now leveraging cutting edge technology and partnerships with key stakeholders to further scale up support to customers, and help lead a grassroots rejuvenation of the Sri Lankan economy,” HNB Managing Director/CEO Jonathan Alles said.

Open to both listed and unlisted companies, selected applicants undergo a stringent evaluation process, including a Financial Evaluation done by a team of CIMA members (CGMAs), after which the KPMG team, acting as the Assurance Partners for the awards, ratifies the scoring and selected the Top 20 organisations for the next round. The final round includes a presentation by the companies, usually with the attendance of their top management, to the panel of judges.

HNB’s journey towards excellence is underscored by the bank’s achievements within the last year, including being ranked among the World’s Top 1,000 Banks list compiled by the prestigious UK-based Banker Magazine for the sixth consecutive year in 2022. HNB was also crowned the Best Retail Bank in Sri Lanka for the 13th occasion at the prestigious International Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards 2023 hosted by the Asian Banker Magazine.
