The American Institute of CPAs® (AICPA) and its predecessors have served the public interest for 136 years. The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants® (CIMA) was founded in 1919 and has helped shaped the profession for over a century. In 2017, they joined together as AICPA & CIMA to forge a powerful international alliance that promotes accounting and finance in every corner of the world.

Today, we serve 689,000 members, students and engaged professionals in 196 countries and territories. By providing exclusive guidance and specialized resources — including prestigious designations, certifications and credentials — we empower you to create an even brighter tomorrow, both for yourself and for the profession.

The Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA®) designation is the premier management accounting credential, indicating one has advanced proficiency in finance, operations, strategy and management. The designation is provided to those who have completed CIMA’s CGMA Professional qualification and applied for the membership successfully.

Our presence in Sri Lanka has been since 1965, and we are growing stronger. In addition to our approx. 15k students and members in the Country, working in varied spheres, we also have a strong pipeline of very talented Sri Lankan CGMA candidates in our community, including global top exam performers and highly talented candidates such as Sandil Mallikarachchi who completed his exams in 10 months.

For more than half a century, we have enabled thousands of Sri Lankans to build their dream careers in finance, business and accounting, both in Sri Lanka and overseas. In 2023 and beyond, we will continue to nurture and develop highly skilled finance and business professionals who can guide and lead their organisations, and in turn the national economy, towards sustainable success.

We exist to power opportunity, trust and prosperity for individuals, organizations and economies around the globe. Wherever you are and whatever your role in accounting and finance, we’ll help you evolve and excel.

How will being a CGMA help you in 2023 and beyond?

Small steps can lead to big change.

  • Be recognized – locally and globally

CIMA has long been known to provide a professional qualification that was known as a global passport. Not only does the qualification provide recognition overseas but even locally. When the top management of any organization in Sri Lanka is considered, there are many CGMAs at the helm leading the organizations towards success. In Sri Lanka, we are much more known and seen as a professional body that creates Business Management Professionals/ Business Leaders.

  • Acquire Transferable, relevant skills

With the Future of Finance research done in 2019, the CGMA PQ syllabus has been updated to include Digital skills in addition to Technical, Business, Leadership and People skills. These skills and competencies gained from the professional qualification sets our graduates ahead of the competition in the workforce.

With the advent of the CGMA Finance Leadership Programme (FLP) we have provided access to the latest in technology aided learning to our candidates.  It is an online, fully digital way to study for CIMA›s CGMA® Professional Qualification and get the CGMA designation. The CGMA FLP seamlessly blends learning and assessments to ensure one understands key topics and can apply new skills before they move on to more advanced business concepts. Compared to the 16 exams to be completed on the traditional CIMA route, CGMA FLP focuses on completing all studies on the platform with just the 3 case study exams to be sat.

  • Get an edge even if you are a mid-career professional

AICPA&CIMA’s exemptions and fast track routes such as C-Suite Business & Finance Programme as well as the CGMA Senior Executive Programme help mid or senior career professionals to move forward towards greater success. Many of the Alumni of these programmes are evidence to the success they’ve seen post completing the programmes – which includes newly promoted CEOs.

Be a part of an exclusive network of movers and shakers in business.
