Consumer-favourite Elephant House Cream Soda has been recognised as Sri Lanka’s best loved beverage for the seventh consecutive year by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and Nielsen the market research agency.
Once again winning the coveted SLIM-Nielsen People’s Choice Award for ‘Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Beverage Brand of the Year’, Elephant House Cream Soda was additionally recognised as a joint winner of the title ‘FMCG Youth Beverage Brand of the Year’. This is the first time Elephant House Cream Soda has won this award, enhancing its winning streak and setting it firmly at the top of the beverage category as the overall winner in this segment.
Currently in its seventh year, the SLIM-Nielsen People’s Choice Awards utilises market data captured via island-wide survey conducted by Nielsen. Based on data gathered over a timeframe of six-months, the awards signals the true opinions of everyday people in relation to brands, which can be contrasted against almost all other marketing awards programs running locally that rely on panels of specialist judges.
2013’s SLIM-Nielsen People’s Choice Awards took the form of a magnificent ceremony held at the Water’s Edge, on 19 March 2013. It was the seventh consecutive year Elephant House Cream Soda was selected as the country’s favourite beverage brand based on island-wide polling, a perch that has been occupied by the brand since the inception of the awards show seven years ago.
Ceylon Cold Stores Beverages Head and John Keells Holdings Vice President Chandima Perera said that adding a special element to the winning streak already enjoyed by Elephant House Cream Soda, the brand was also, awarded the title of ‘FMCG Youth Beverage Brand of the Year’, a segment it topped for the first time ever.
