In 2025, YouTube received $40.4 billion from advertising, which is more than the combined advertising revenues of Disney, NBCUniversal, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery – $37.8 billion. This data is provided by the research company Moffett Nathanson, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
For comparison, in 2024 the situation was the opposite: YouTube’s advertising revenues amounted to $36.1 billion, while the four largest Hollywood studios together earned $41.8 billion. Over the year, the ratio has changed in favour of the video platform.
YouTube’s total revenue in 2025, according to Alphabet, reached $60 billion. In addition to advertising, a significant part is made up of subscriptions: YouTube TV, YouTube Premium, YouTube Music and the NFL Sunday Ticket package.
By comparison, Netflix’s revenue in 2025 was $45.2 billion. Disney’s media business brought in $60.9 billion, including streaming services. However, YouTube remains a smaller advertising platform compared to some tech companies: Meta earned $196.2 billion from advertising in 2025.
The platform is also expanding its use of artificial intelligence tools. YouTube announced that it is testing deepfake detection technology, which identifies images and videos created with the help of AI. Users can request the removal of content for violating the platform’s rules. Government officials, politicians and journalists participate in the program.
