One of India’s leading innovation consultants, Bhupendra Sharma, will be facilitating a program on innovative leadership on 22 November 2013 at Hotel Renuka in Colombo. Over the last 20 years, Bhupendra Sharma has been working with organisations across the United States, Europe, India, and the Asia Pacific in order to create environments more conducive to innovation by building new idea pipelines.
Indeed, dynamic market conditions have made innovation a mandate for corporate success. As market conditions shift and consumer aspirations evolve, organisations are faced with increasing challenges. In response, supply chains are streamlined and customer care standards are enhanced. Only a few forward-thinking firms, however, will understand the necessity to differentiate their products, services, or business models in order to stand out. An innovation mindset can help evolve an organisation, enabling it to become leaner, more efficient, and more effective at creating and enhancing value propositions.
Innovation is not a happy accident
Innovative companies are able to take breakthrough ideas, assess their potential based on real market parameters and new market possibilities. Companies that can carve out new markets, as opposed to only working in existing markets, may be better positioned for sustainable success. These companies recognise that ideas, and not resources, are the key competitive advantage. They understand that innovation is not a happy accident; rather, it can be cultivated by design.
Bhupendra notes that innovation needs to be generated from the bottom up, as well as the top down, so that ideas are also developed by those who interact with consumers. Employees must embrace change and innovation, not as reactive forces originating in the boardroom but instead inspired by their own experiences within the organisation. Whether incremental or revolutionary, change that is generated by those on the frontlines will be pragmatic and based on real market conditions.
Bhupendra Sharma is the founder of nXtlyf Future Consulting Ltd., a company that offers specialised services in strategic innovation.
The workshop is organised by Hummingbird International (HBI), a regional knowledge house, specialising in coaching, consulting and outsourcing. Hummingbird International is joined by Q&E, the advertising and communications consultant for this program on innovative leadership. Hummingbird International and Q&E have previously worked together on promoting the ‘CineManage’ workshop, as well as the ‘Shape the World’ conference held in Colombo.
